Manu Macaw Clay Lick 4 Days / 3 Nights

ITINERARY.

DAY 1: CUSCO - BOCA MANU - BLANQUILLO.

We pick you up from your hotel to bring you to the airport for the flight to Boca Manu (45 minutes) .The guide will be waiting for you at Boca Manu airstrip and from here we take the boat to Blanquillo. In the afternoon we visit Blanco Lake looking for Giant River Otters, Monkeys, Caimans and birds. The night is spent at Blanquillo Lodge. Optional night walk (to see insects, frogs, snakes etc.).

 

DAY 2: MACAW CLAY LICK - MAMMAL SALT LICK.

Early in the morning we go to the Macaw Clay Lick where Parrots, Parakeets and Macaws arrive to eat the clay. After this natural show we explore the trails around Blanquillo, always looking for monkeys and birds. After lunch we go to Maquisapayoj Mammal Salt Lick, where we will spend the entire night at the special made platform to observe the tapirs when they come to eat the clay.

 

DAY 4.- MAQUISAPAYOJ - BOCA MANU.

After breakfast we will enjoy a nice walk exploring the trails of Maquisapayoj in order to find more wildlife then we go to Boca Manu. The night is spent at the Boca Manu Lodge near Boca Manu village.

 

DAY 3.- BOCA MANU - CUSCO.

After breakfast we go to the airstrip and take the flight back to Cusco. Transfer to your hotel.

Note: Please consider that Manu flight schedule might be changed or - rarely - even be canceled due to weather conditions or maintenance. Therefore please make sure that you don't book your connecting flights the day after returning from Manu.

THINGS YOU SHOULD BRING FOR THE MANU TRIP:

Rainforest expeditions are not comfortable tours, but the following EQUIPMENT you will get the best out of the forest and yourself

 

  • The jungle is hot, sweaty and full of insects, to keep the strong sun and the biting bugs   at bay we   recommend you stay covered up at all times.

  • Photocopy of passport

  • Long sleeved shirts (cotton is better).

  • Cotton socks.

  • Mosquito repellent.

  • Sandals.

  • Rain gear.

  • Long pants.

  • Bathing suit.

  • Hiking shoes.

  • Binoculars (you can also rent them from).

  • Camera and films (400 and 200 ASA).

  • Plastic bags for clothes and camera etc.

  • Personal things (soap, toilet paper. towel etc.).

  • Hat (or handkerchief).

  • Sun blocker, sun glasses.

  • Sleeping bag (can also be rented).

  • Flashlight (with spare bulb and batteries).

  • Day pack.

  • Rubber boots (only in rainy season, Jan. -April).
