ITINERARY
Day 1: Cusco Cloud
Forest.
An early journey by bus passing
through the andean communities, We leave Cusco city, then make an
stop to visit one of the Pre-Inca cementery at Ninamarca community,
then we descent into the valley of Paucartambo folkloric town and
have a short walk, continuing the trip we arrive to the Ajanaco
point (3,530 masl) which also demark the boundaries of the Manu
biosphere, this is also like the entrance to the rain forest because
after this we descent into the Cloud Forest (1,550 masl) the habitat
of Cock of the rock considered the National bird of Peru and the
place, we spend the night.
Day 2: Cloud Forest Boca
Manu.
After to see the activity of the
cock of the rock birds and have our day break we continue by bus and
along the road we’ll see some small towns Chontachaca, Patria,
Pillcopata all of them farmers of many tropical plantations like the
coca, rice, manioc, sugar cane, bananas, and many others. Then we
arrive to Atalaya port at (650 masl) since this place we take the
motorized boat down the Alto Madre de Dios river where we can see
many birds along the river side. Herons, Cormorants, Egrets, parrots
and macaws flying around. We navigate for about 6 hours until we get
Boca Manu, and spend the night in lodge.
Day 3: Boca Manu
Salvador Lake.
Today after an early wake up we
take the boat ride into the Manu river which lead us to the Manu’s
reserved zone, an hour ride after we stop at the Limonal control to
check in. Since this place our options to see wildlife increase.
Mammals like Capybaras, Monkeys, Peccaries, Cats like Puma and
Jaguar, also can be spotted Caimans with the help of the guide and
the team of workers, who’s have sharp eye. By afternoon we arrive
to our camping.
Day 4: Salvador Lake –
Otorongo Lake (Full Day).
It is a nice day to visit the
lake and row the catamaran (which is small canoes with a platform),
and look for family of Otters, who live during the year in this
amazing lake, the biggest in Manu; this is also the habitat of the
Black Caimans, Birds, and Monkeys hanging from the branches of the
trees. Then we hike through the forest looking more wildlife, lunch
at the camp. By afternoon we going to Otorongo lake, and visit the a
tower of 18 meters high in from of the lake walking to this place
the guide will explain you about of the functions of the forest. We
spent the night in our camp site.
Day 5: Salvador Lake –
Tambo Blanquillo.
Early in the morning, we take
down the Manu river by boat this is another choice to see Jaguar.
This is the day that some of passengers will take the flight from
Boca Manu to Cusco. Then we continue our trip on the Madre de Dios
River to Tamblo Blanquillo. In the afternoon we visit another Manu’s
beautiful oxbow lakes, Cocha Blanco. Night is in the lodge.
NOTE: Those
passengers, who decide return by flight, have to pay extra flight.
Day 6: Tambo Blanquillo
(Macaw Clay Lick).
At first light of the day, we
take the boat down the river until to the Macaw Clay Lick to watch
the dazzling spectacle of hundreds of parakeets, parrots and macaws
eating clay. Going back up the river we stay in a basic lodge, or
camp next to that basic lodge, depending on availability.
Day 7: Boca Manu -
Pantiacolla Lodge.
This is another day that some of
passengers will take the flight from Boca Manu to Cusco. On this
time we take the Alto Madre de Dios River upstream until we get to
Pantiacolla Lodge located at the base of Pantiacolla Mountains it’s
a private lodge that protect 900 has of the rainforest. We spent the
night in the lodge.
NOTE: Those
passengers, who decide return by flight, have to pay extra flight.
Day 8: Pantiacolla.
Today our group will hike 6
hours round trip to the spectacular view over 1000 meters Aprox. And
see the lowland and have the opportunity to see endemics insects,
birds and flora from different altitudes.
DAY 9: Atalaya-Cloud
Forest- Cusco.
Early in the morning after
break, we take the boat upstream to Atalaya port, bus to Cusco.
Transfer to hotel.
Note: Please
consider that Manu flight schedule might be changed or - rarely -
even be canceled due to weather conditions or maintenance. Therefore
please make sure that you don't book your connecting flights the day
after returning from Manu

Rainforest expeditions are not
comfortable tours, but the following EQUIPMENT you will get the best
out of the forest and yourself

and full of insects, to keep the strong sun and the biting
bugs at bay we recommend you stay covered up at all times.
